Who wants an iPhone? ME…. just kidding

First off… I love the iPhone, I got to play with it the day after it was released. It was dumb luck that I did, but just from watching a couple of tutorials I was easily able to navigate around. BUT, that sweet piece of technology is just not for me yet. There are a few things about the iPhone I am jealous of but for the most part it seems like more of a toy than a device that will conduct business, and make me more productive. I know there are hosts of people that will disagree with me and that is why it is just an opinion of mine.

My Next Cellphone

The Blackberry Pearl is a great phone. I love the small form factor and the versatility of the phone. I am counting down the days until Sony Ericsson releases the XPERIA X1 though. The moment I saw that phone I was excited for it to be released. I’m not going to lie, it doesn’t help that I am a Sony fanboy. I have been bought more Sony products in the last year that I have ever. I am really pleased with the products they have released, between the PS3, the VAIO FZ I am writing this on, and I just found out the ASUS 22″ monitor I have at home is even made by Sony.

Anyhow, The XPERIA X1 if you haven’t heard of it is a touchscreen face with a hide-away QUERY keyboard underneath.

receiving Gmail on your BlackBerry

Using the messaging service on your BlackBerry is pretty painless when used with Gmail accounts. The only thing that bothers me with the service is the fact that if I send a message on the web-browser through Gmail it shows up in my inbox on my BlackBerry. Where other people may like this for records sake I don’t enjoy this. There is a simple and painless way to alleviate this by setting up a filter. I just went into the blackberry service that is set up my my wireless carrier (they are all different, an easy Google search will net you with the proper address for your carrier) and added a filter to filter any messages coming from my personal Gmail accounts to not forward on to my device. It is that simple. If you have any question on how to set it up or what website to use leave them in the comments and we will work it out.

AT&T customer support & updating my replacement Blackberry Pearl

Saturday morning I woke up to find that my Blackberry Pearl did not charge all night  long. I was a tad puzzled so I check my usb charger/data cable, and I also tried a couple of Motorola chargers I have lying around the house. Well, none of them would give my poor Pearl a charge. This is the first time I have needed AT&T Customer Support while living in an area that actually has AT&T Support Centers. I ran down town to stop by one to see if they would exchange my phone out and give me a new one on the spot (that’d be cool huh). Well, to no avail, they gave me a pamphlet with the AT&T Customer Support Center 800 number on it instead! I could have done that from home and never left the house and brave the holiday traffic!
